M.A. Dawson

School Prom

I was all ready to go home and they played the last dance. 'May I?' he asked. How could I refuse? So we danced till morning. Now it's his turn at dominoes and we both have one left. I have the double six. Only a six can go. And I take his hand and glide his soft fragile fingers across his four and two and tell him he's won.

Digging for treasure, the spade breaks.
